The average American engagement lasts sixteen months. Most of that time is spent planning the wedding. Couples spend between seven and twelve months getting ready for their big day. But choosing the date isn’t always easy. There are 365 calendar days (or more) to choose from. Where to start?
To get your guests in this reflective mindset, ask everyone what the sweetest thing they did in the last year was. Then ask them what sweet thing they would like to do this year for another person. If you find this exercise a little too sickly, ask everyone to write their answers on slips of paper and put them in hats during your party. While dessert is being prepared, display the paper strips artfully in the living room.
Mix in a bowl the flour, salt and 1 tablespoon of sugar. In a separate bowl whisk the eggs until frothy and add to the flour mixture plus the yeast mixture, boiling and cold water and oil and mix for about 5 minutes either by hand or with a mixer and dough hook. I mixed the dough until there were no lumps.

Christ gave the Lord’s Supper in place of Passover, so why not celebrate it then and watch in prayer with the following modification? The disciples understood their heritage that judgments fell at Passover. They were probably thinking Passover when Christ said,You don’t know the day or hour. The Greek word, eido, meant be aware, consider, understand. Christ was saying, You don’t understand, and each time He said it, He gave an example of a provision in the law for Passover a month later “as in the days of Noah” when the Flood came with Passover timing, but in the 2nd month, Gen 7:4,11; Exod 12:3.
Rosh Hashanah is the first day of the Hebrew year. It is called Rosh Hashanah since “rosh” means head and “shanah” is year – the “ha” part makes the whole “head (or beginning of) the year” So, when you meet them, it is nice to wish your Jewish friends a happy new year. “Happy New Year” or the Hebrew equivalent “Shana Tova” are appropriate greetings.
September is a good month to be Ms. Smarty Pants. September is both Classical Music Month and Read-A-New Book month, so start a book club and throw a party. Feature classical music as guests arrive and choose a new book for everyone to read. Then, gather again in October to discuss the book.
The chill in the air in September can be the perfect way to make your reception a warm cozy affair. Take your cues from the colors of the season and you’ll have a wonderful fall reception. Be mindful not to over lap with the other special occasions in September and you’ll have a wedding reception that will be long remembered.
