It’s one thing when a seasoned band like Dinosaur Jr. comes to the neighborhood for a one-of-a-kind show. Needless to say it was a terrible set-up, which is actually perfect to learn on. He’s like a best friend, actually, like a brother.
First off you will need some type of program, whether that is software or hardware to create the beats. In my experience of over 20 years with making beats i have used both pieces – hardware and software. I still use both today.
The beats per minute in drum and bass tracks are usually from 160-180, compared to other forms of breakbeat that have paces of 130-140 BPM. As time has gone by and the genre has evolved, the BPM has raised and as a result, the tracks seem faster now a day.
Ashley’s Roach Clip (Chuck Brown and The Soul Searchers) – This sample continues to rock on air. It was notably used in a minor hit known as Girls Around the World by R&B singer Lloyd. Way back in 1987, it found its initial and much-loved use on the classic Paid in Full by Eric B. and Rakim.
Julian Marley, the son of the legendary Bob Marley, will be performing songs from his latest release, Awake, a collaboration with the Ghetto Youths International production team founded by siblings Stephen and Ziggy.
Always check the format of the song you want to sample. The MP3 format is not well-matched with most software and typically just transfer your sample to MP3.
It was the culmination of a formula I have been working on over my last few mixes. The ultimate goal was to make a mix where there is little or no “down time”. Using 15 tracks with 14 different a capellas I try to keep the energy up and the flow congruent through careful selection and placement of said a capellas.
Looking back, I guess the funniest thing about Ravers creating their own religion-was that even those at the forefront of it, couldn’t explain it. Go figure, half the time we could barely talk (lol). My opinion on the religious aspect?- There definitely was.”something.” Was it the drugs which created this awe-inspiring feeling of “togetherness?” Or again, was it the shear power of the masses coming together? Certainly history shows us that when large crowds come together; there will be some sort of mutual feeling shared. Look at the flock to Mecca, the ability of Hitler to brainwash, Jonestown, or even just local churches. There are hundreds of examples.
The Spring Massive at the Paradox is gonna be insane as will Starscape 2009. I am also headlining this huge three-day festival alongside DJ Swamp and like 50 others called Willy Wonka and the Bass Factory on June 19-21 in West Virginia, which I am sure will be an experience!
