He said, as were driving to a party in Orlando, “You see- everyone’s got a job- the dancer- the DJ- the drug-dealer. And if we all do our job right- the end result is a good “vibe.” Good god, had we made drug-dealer a “respectable profession?” The scene had become both beautiful and dangerous.

Of course, EOTO’s innovative brand of live electronic music is designed for invention. What they achieve on stage is nothing short of astounding. Performed with all of the bells and whistles of a traditional electronic artist plus the addition of live instruments and vocals, the duo creates every bass ridden blast right before your eyes – without the addition of a single pre-recorded track.

NT (Kool & The Gang) – This features one of the ever-present drum breaks that you could hear in almost every hip hop song. Its first main hip hop appearance was heard as a sample on NWA’s “Gangsta Gangsta”.

Spinna: I came up with the concept for that fresh out of college. I graduated from SUNY Binghamton, upstate New York. I told myself when I graduated that I wasn’t gonna get a job, a regular 9-5. I was gonna hustle and try to make my way through the grind of becoming an artist. I got really fortunate actually, with that record. When that came out, Funkmaster Flex was killing it! A lot of people thought he made the record. He was playing it every night for like 2-3 years in a row on the mix show. It was an anthem. It was big record. I was able to use that to get more work. I did a couple more records in that style, that party-breakbeat kind of thing. And then I started getting remixes and production.

After the release of Nineteen Naughty Nine: Nature’s Fury, a dispute regarding finances developed between Kay Gee and Treach, with Treach blaming Kay Gee for squandering the group’s finances. Due to these disagreements DJ Kay Gee decided to leave Naughty by Nature in late 2000. He started to develop his own record label Divine Mill. The remainder of the group, Treach and Vin Rock, released an album in 2002 called IIcons, using a variety of different producers including Da Beatminerz; the album, however, received a lukewarm reception from the public. IIcons is their last album to date.
