Hardstyle Music Festival – Deqon

The MP3 format is not well-matched with most software and typically just transfer your sample to MP3. First off you will need some type of program, whether that is software or hardware to create the beats.
Do you remember the fresh smell of the Florida air and the sweet sting of the wind through your hair while speeding down the interstate, windows down, blasting the baddess-ass Breakz track noone’s ever heard at 1AM- your crew in the back seat rolling their asses off, while you all knew you were about to entirely “make” the vibe of the party?

Drum and bass branched off from the rave scene during the 1980s and since then, multiple elements have been incorporated into it. Jazz, rock, trance, metal, house, hip hop, and many other genres fused into the bass beats to give each track a unique feel.

Live drums, guitars, keys, and vocals are mixed, remixed, and sampled on the fly using cutting-edge programs. Incredibly, it’s all done without a script – and without a net.

Though the home base of drum and bass is in the UK, this infectious genre has spread itself globally. Strong scenes include: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, and the United States. Drum and bass also enjoys popular in Eastern and Northern Europe as well as South America, particularly Brazil and Venezuela. Asian drum and bass scenes include Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

In the midst of it all, it had also become a fashion show. Not so bad, right? We saw it as a good thing. Ravers were making the clothes, so buying them was supporting “us.” The idea that the scene could support itself soon came to the forefront, quickly enticing fashion designers and promoters to invest even more. Was the scene becoming “respectable?” Was it becoming a self-supporting movement- or big business?

It was poignantly funky. It started with turntables. Then came the guitar – a riff i couldn’t stop singing for the rest of the night. The unique take on a typical blues call and response peppered with some of the slickest organ lines i have heard in many years, coupled with the sheer magnitude of the big breakbeat drums underscored Amanda Davids’ powerful voice perfectly. Then came the organ solo. The sound itself, was warm but gritty, the playing, malevolent but refined – clearly the culmination of many years of listening to the masters, and even studying with one. All i can say is that i highly reccomend buying a copy. Use it for your alarm clock and your cell phone ringtone, because it will get your attention.

On Friday, She Craves, Dented, and One Eyed Doll will be rocking Stubb’s (Do512 link). Just down the street at 6th and Red River, Mixx will be hosting one of it’s first nights of live music after being a nightclub for years. The Beat Dolls, who were an opener for Godsmack at Austin Surf Sesh, will take the stage around 9:30, followed by HMS Foolhardy. Originally from Germany, HMS Foolhardy moved to Austin and just released their EP “Grassrock” a few weeks ago at Mohawk. Closing out the night will be rock duo, Silent Alarm Activated.

The use of top hip hop samples in music production still refuses to die. Until now, beat makers keep on utilizing tools, gathering and creating sounds, producing effects, and eventually prepare the stage for the musical satisfaction of the audience.
