Hardstyle Music Festival – Deqon

I was gonna hustle and try to make my way through the grind of becoming an artist. Both sets will feature Will Scruggs, who’s played a part in the birth of both bands. My first name is short for Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, fertility and music.
Recently, the genre has started becoming more popular with youth around the world thanks to the internet revolution. Drum and bass is synonymous to jungle, a type of electronic dance music which can be identified by its fast tempo and broken beat drums. The bass is also very heavy. Though today it is still underground, it is slowly surfacing and making its way into youth culture, especially in the UK, where it originated.

Drum and bass branched off from the rave scene during the 1980s and since then, multiple elements have been incorporated into it. Jazz rock trance metal house hip hop and many other genres fused into the bass beats to give each track breakbeat a unique feel.

And then on top of that, we had shows. There were a lot of shows going on. Radio programming supported it as well. Underground hip-hop radio shows. Every night of the week in New York, you could pretty much tune in somewhere and hear underground hip-hop. So the support system was there back then.

The group formed in East Orange, New in 1988. They first appeared on the music scene in 1989, releasing an album called Independent Leaders under their then name the New Style. The album generated the minor hit “Scuffin’ Those Knees”. After the release of their first album, the group was mentored by fellow New Jersey native Queen Latifah, and subsequently changed its name.

Ready Or Not, Here I Come (The Delfonics) – This music sample was actually made popular by Timberland when he arranged his partner Missy Elliott with the wonderful hit for Sock It 2 Me. This became so hot which turned out to be Missy Elliot’s best work. Da Brat was even invited on it.

Most of the “clubs” were just one room warehouses with a couple pool tables-but ALWAYS- had the best damn DJ you ever heard, spinning this “new” music. There were always couches available, for when you fell to your “personal journey.” The dancing style we think of today hadn’t evolved yet- you just closed your eyes and did whatever the music made you do. Noone judged you. It was your “journey.” We all had our own to deal with.

The bassline in drum and bass plays half of the speed of the drums. The changing of this equation produces “faster” and “slower” sounding tracks. Guitar riffs and extra beats are added and the BPMs are made higher to alter the sound of the song. Since 1996, tracks have remained in the mid-170 BPM range, producing what we know today as drum and bass.

The use of top hip hop samples in music production still refuses to die. Until now, beat makers keep on utilizing tools, gathering and creating sounds, producing effects, and eventually prepare the stage for the musical satisfaction of the audience.
