10 Years after “Drop The Breakz”, I’m still doing it.just differently. The Rave scene, however, is much harder to pinpoint a motive to. Later on I was able to get my hands on a Roland XP-60 Workstation and a Roland MV-8000 Sampler/Sequencer.

Though today it is still underground, it is slowly surfacing and making its way into youth culture, especially in the UK, where it originated.

Secondly let me talk a little bit about software used for creating beats. The first piece of software that I used was Cakewalk, followed by Fruit Loops Studio and finally Reason by Propellerhead. I had always liked the feel of Hardware until I got used to using software. In my opinion, the biggest advantage to using software is the price. You can get software for a third of the price you spend on hardware. If you are PC literate which a lot of the younger generation is now, it is easier to cut, copy and paste within the software. This was not as easy when using Hardware.

One of the problems with the scene, helping lead to its eventual demise, was that what we were fighting FOR, happened to be exactly what we were AGAINST. As we gathered by the thousands to fight for the respect of this new musical style, when it did morph into something mainstream- we hated it and turned our back on it. 20 years later, electronica is highly respected. Artists like Lady GaGa and 3OH3 have brought techno beats to the masses. Video games have put techno in the hands of 12 year-olds, and car commercials have created techno anthems. WOW- we won! 20 years later techno is still around, and more popular than ever. The problem is, it didn’t happen exactly like we thought it would. Well, it never does. Still, part of the reason the scene is over is that we have nothing to go back and prove.

Of course, EOTO’s innovative brand of live electronic music is designed for invention. What they achieve on stage is nothing short of astounding. Performed with all of the bells and whistles of a traditional electronic artist plus the addition of live instruments and vocals, the duo creates every bass ridden blast right before your eyes – without the addition of a single pre-recorded track.
