Metal Opinion: A Letter From The Music Industry
Are you going to remain a web publication, or go for print again? Associated Content contributor Tara Clapper spoke with Angus of Metal Rules! and learned she liked Viking metal. The Acacia Strain nearly stole the entire show with their performance.
One of the most creative minds active in the modern music scene, Todd Fink hails from Omaha, Nebraska, where he presently awaits my phone call. A shy and slow speaking voice answers the phone.
Jett, who started out alongside Lita Ford in the Runaways, is probably best known for her huge 80’s hit “I Love Rock N’ Roll.” But music fans will also remember “Bad Reputation”, “I Hate Myself For Loving You”, “Little Liar” and awesome covers such as Gary Glitter’s “Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah!)”, Tommy James and the Shondells’ “Crimson and Clover”, The Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner” and AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds.” Jett also starred in the movie “Light of Day” with Michael J. Fox in 1987, with the title song written by Bruce Springsteen.
A: The origin of the magazine came from Jeff Rappaport. When he was working at the comic store he decided to put together a magazine in hopes of being able to talk to his favorite guitar player, Jeff Waters of Annihilator. He put the first issue together and it was a bit rough looking. He then recruited Jeremy Pelligrin and Josh Williams to help with the artwork and layout and Joe Kucharski to help with the editing. The look of issue 1 compared to issue 2 is like night and day. I didn’t officially come on board until issue 4 in which I transcribed the Michael Sweet (Stryper) interview. Rob joined up later on as the photo guy and probably other things.
The standout set of the night did not come from either of the headliners but from Killswitch Engage. In the past, the band has been criticized for some of it’s live shows but they did everything right this time.
Looking over what I’ve written so far, I began wondering if I was truly covering alternative music. A death metal band, a death metal video star, a young rapper, and a rap promoter.where is the line that defines what is alternative? And have I crossed that line, or does that line even exist?
Not to separate, but there wasn’t any reason that we needed to continue to use Saddle Creek. We just didn’t really need a label and now that everything is digital putting out a record is a lot easier than it used to be. We didn’t have a lot of great reasons for doing it or a lot of ambitious plans for the future or anything. It exists so we can put of a side project here o r there or with friends. There is one coming out by our friends called Touch People. I’m hoping to get an update on that soon. I don’t know if the record is mastered and it’s not set in stone if we will release it but that would be cool.
If music is something that is important to you, consider going to a concert as a way to meet men. Below are a few web sites for concerts coming up on Long Island. The Jones Beach schedule isn’t finished yet.
