I admire decorated houses as much as anyone just as I would walk into a house with beautiful menorahs and admire those. I balk at the gaudy displays just like you who do celebrate Christmas think that particular display tacky and just as I would walk into a Jewish home and find extreme beliefs – well extreme.
Christ gave the Lord’s Supper in place of Passover, so why not celebrate it then and watch in prayer with the following modification? The disciples understood their heritage that judgments fell at Passover. They were probably thinking Passover when Christ said,You don’t know the day or hour. The Greek word, eido, meant be aware, consider, understand. A Christian on Christmas or Easter never lacks for a seat in a church. And they don’t need to pay dues to attend services ever. They can put a penny (or nothing) in the basket when it’s passed around, and they will still be welcomed with open arms and allowed to pray in the sanctuary even on their holiest of days.
Pomegranate is a favoured fruit for the New Year. On the second night of Rosh Hashanah, a “new fruit” is eaten -ie a fruit that has recently come into season but no one round the table has yet had the opportunity to eat. A pomegranate is often used as this new fruit. In the Bible, the Land of Israel is praised for its pomegranates. It is also said that this fruit contains 613 seeds, just as there are 613 mitzvot (commandments). Another reason given for blessing and eating pomegranate, is the desire that good deeds in the ensuing year, will be as plentiful as the seeds of the pomegranate.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
