Spinna: I came up with the concept for that fresh out of college. I am happiest with the response and how many people have been inspired by it. It left us willing to pursue the discovery of underpromoted arts and culture.

After all, some fans prefer artists that stick to a tried and true concert formula, playing a tune live that is indistinguishable from the studio version. Other fans want something a little more diverse. Bands that play a different set list every night, for instance.

Smooth out the weekend by getting jazzed up at Star Bar this Friday with a Cadillac Jones and CC Booker III show. Not that this’ll be chill-type music though, for these acts will have you dancing into the morning. Both sets will feature Will Scruggs, who’s played a part in the birth of both bands. Will Scruggs is a funk musician who has two sides: a swinging/soulful jazz side to swoon the ladies, and a funk/breakbeat side to groove the wallflowers.

Think About It (Lyn Collins) – Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock’s popular hip hop club hit “It Takes Two” has used the funk classic beat “Think (About It) as its loop sample.

Julian Marley, the son of the legendary Bob Marley, will be performing songs from his latest release, Awake, a collaboration with the Ghetto Youths International production team founded by siblings Stephen and Ziggy.

Some even believed it was becoming a real “religion.” Perhaps it was the visions of too much acid and ecstasy- “candy-flippin”, when you mixed the two together. Perhaps it was simply the power of thousands of vast oceans of ravers, coming together at huge weekend festivals-but yes..

Always check the format of the song you want to sample. The MP3 format is not well-matched with most software and typically just transfer your sample to MP3.

If hard and punk rock isn’t the right tune for Sunday evening, then head down the street to The Five Spot to hear some New Orleans-bred funk! Water Seed is putting together an awesome show to highlight their soulful and funky ways at the best spot for funk concerts. Opening up for this band will be Kev Choice, emcee and pianist with a jazz and soul influence, and another New Orleans native Casme’ providing some fun and soulful tunes.
