Marina was designed by architect Jose Banus in 1970. Hire a deckchair and soak up the beautiful view before bracing yourself for the walk back up. Good examples are Cuisenaire Rods and pattern blocks.
Summer break is here for schoolchildren. It started June 2 for my son, June 14 for my daughter. That means now the kids will have many extra hours in which to express their boredom. As all work at home moms know, it pays to be prepared for summertime so you can still get some decent work hours in.
Research and choose your homeschool curriculum. There are thousands upon thousands of homeschool curriculum available, but as a new homeschooler, my recommendation is to go for an inexpensive curriculum that is easy to use. Many families would do well to consider other types of post-secondary education for their kids. Perhaps learning a marketable trade is the way to go. There will always be a need for auto mechanics, electricians, carpenters, beauticians, make-up artists, and workers with other hands-on skills. These jobs will not disappear and cannot be shipped overseas. Or, one might consider investing in a small business or franchise. Become an entrepreneur. Pursue your culinary skills. Follow your artistic dreams. Or, attend college not as a four year vacation with beer parties, drug parties, hooking up and easy courses as the main attraction. But pursue your degree with the primary goal of learning marketable skills.
Employers are going to develop new hiring methods in your future. Knowledge testing will determine who gets the job, NOT the school you attended or graduated from. An MBA from BIG name colleges will be challenged to prove their worth in our future.
