I don’t suggest hours of schoolwork a day or even necessarily doing schoolwork every day. They’re either up to something or being so cute you’ll need a camera. The hotel has air-conditioned and non air-conditioned rooms.
Mwnt beach, Cardigan Bay, Wales Secluded. Horseshoe-shaped cove on the rugged Ceredigion coast in Wales. Mwnt (pronounced Munt) has the protective eye of the National Trust watching over it and a Green Award – the Blue Flag of rural beaches – to its credit. Stretch your calf muscles on a walk up to Mwnt’s 15th century cliff-top church or don your binoculars for a spot of porpoise-watching.

I loved it when I had a mother’s helper when my oldest was a baby. It made life much easier. My helper was too young to be a babysitter, but quite aware of how her older sisters made money with babysitting. Of course she cost less to hire, as I was right there, able to change diapers and so forth. She just had to keep the baby entertained.

Overlooking the Maltese islands of Comino and Gozo – Paradise Bay, on the northern tip of Malta overlooks Cirkewwa and requires some effort to reach but is undoubtedly worth the trek. At the bottom of a flight of stone steps, be wowed by a beach surrounded by dramatic cliffs and ultramarine waters. Hire a deckchair and soak up the beautiful view before bracing yourself for the walk back up.

My kids love library days. We’ve been going nuts waiting for the local library to reopen after a remodel, but it’s going to be nice having it open again. New computers, WiFi, new paint and new carpets should make it a pretty nice place to visit this summer. It’s so much cheaper than getting new books for them at the bookstore all the time.
