Because in Europe, the audience is a lot younger, and they’re hearing the music almost for the first time. This is the mantra for anyone doing business on the web today. You produce or you get replaced with someone who will.
The truth is that many operating businesses do not have properly drafted and defined invoices given to their customers/clients. I have seen it too many times that often very important information is simply missing from the invoice. This causes confusion with clients, but more importantly, it creates great problems when the business debt needs to be collected. With an invoice like this, you can be certain of one thing; it will affect your business and hurt your cash flow.
How would we survive without our technology? Imagine how slow everything would be and how much “donkey work” we’d still be doing. Just think of the time we’d waste if we had to write complex reports without the word processor!
Know your audience. You wouldn’t make the same presentation about a new software package to engineers, accountants and top managers. The engineers want to know about the tool’s whizzes and whirrs–what it can do for them and why it beats competing products. The accountants want to know what it will cost and how it will save them money. Top management wants to know how it will boost productivity and give the company an edge over the competition. So adjust your pitch as needed.
As a boss, you ask one of your employees to write a report on the health and safety standards in the factory. If you don’t tell the employee that you want an excuse to spend the $30,000 that’s left in the health and safety budget, they’ll go away and spend three weeks detailing everything! I know because it happened. So all that work and you still don’t have your excuse.
Procrastination is intentionally, habitually or unconsciously putting off something that you KNOW should be done today. In this short report we can’t go into the many reasons why we humans procrastinate so I’ll get straight into seven very useful “tricks”.
36. Trick your subconscious by saying, “I’ll do just five-minute’s worth – that’s all just five minutes then I’ll stop”. Guess what happens? Once you’ve started you feel okay about continuing. Keep taking small bearable steps with breaks in between. This is usually not time-effective, but if this is what’s needed to help you overcome procrastination, why not?
We then built a plan to address each of the gaps. This process took time to initiate and is taking time to apply. Some gaps were readily solvable, where others are a work in progress. They will take time to resolve. He and I will continue working together until he feels he is happy with his brand, reputation and image.
If a member of the audience nails you with a question you can’t answer, don’t be afraid to say, “I don’t know. I’ll have to look that up and get back to you.” Thrashing around for an answer–any answer–will be obvious to the audience and instantly kill your credibility.
