Grandpa Lyrics

Grandpa, tell me ’bout the good old days
Sometimes it feels like this world’s gone crazy
And Grandpa, take me back to yesterday
When the line between right and wrong
Didn’t seem so hazy

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say and then forget
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away?
Oh, Grandpa, tell me ’bout the good old days

Grandpa, everything is changing fast
We call it progress, but I just don’t know
And Grandpa, let’s wander back into the past
And paint me the picture of long ago

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say and then forget
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away?
Oh, Grandpa, tell me ’bout the good old days
Oh, Grandpa, tell me ’bout the good old days

Listened to this again on Fathers’ Day. I would have loved to share this video with my grandpa. He was one of the most hard working men ever. My dad learned a lot from him.

He was a very adventurous guy and spent a lot of years traveling by boat before he met my grandma. Those two “fell in love to stay.” The ocean and beautiful countrysides were his only other lovers. His travels covered most of the Pacific.

I’m so glad I got the chance to ask Grandpa about the good old days. He’s told me some crazy but cool stories of his past. I’m sure he would be re-inspired by you guys and what you’re doing 🙂

  3. Your cover even nicer than the original. I like this song and your voice, it's absolutely suitable. And the scenery, i can't help.

    Nature + Music = Paradise

I grew up poor and my granpa was an ordinary farmer. Although we were poor, my granpa moved heaven and earth to be able to send me to a good private school. My strongest memory of him was him having to carry me through flood and mud just so i could get to school without soiling my pristine all white uniform😢. He taught me by example hardwork and humility. Even though we were a simple family, when my granpa passed i was amazed by how many lives he touched by the enormous number of people who paid their respect and bid farewell to him, including leaders of our city. My granpa was called eandearingly "AMA" (father) by everyone. ❤
